Charm Becomes the Only Carbon Credit Provider with Verified CCP Credits Across Two Protocols

Charm Becomes the Only Carbon Credit Provider with Verified CCP Credits Across Two Protocols

A new benchmark for integrity in carbon removal.

Charm has become the only carbon credit provider to receive verified credits under two different Core Carbon Principles (CCP)-labeled protocols — a milestone that cements Charm’s role as a standard-setter in durable carbon removal.

The Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market (ICVCM) has approved Isometric’s Bio-Oil Geological Storage protocol, under which Charm’s credits are issued. This follows the earlier approval of the Isometric Biochar protocol — making Charm the first and only company recognized for both bio-oil and biochar carbon removal under the world’s highest-integrity standard.

A Track Record of Scientific Rigor and Transparency

From day one, Charm has prioritized verifiability and accuracy in carbon removal. That philosophy drove the creation of Ledger, Charm’s public digital MRV platform, which makes every tonne of carbon removal traceable and auditable in real time. Most recently, that commitment expanded through our partnership with Mangrove Systems, building further momentum toward transparent, data-driven carbon removal.

The new CCP label for bio-oil storage adds yet another layer of third-party validation to Charm’s work, reinforcing its commitment to openness, measurement precision, and durable climate impact.

Why Charm’s Partnership with Isometric Builds Market Integrity

Charm chose to work with Isometric because of their shared commitment to scientific rigor and transparency — values that have allowed both organizations to set high standards for durability and verification across the industry. As detailed in earlier Charm posts on Ledger’s launch and building durable carbon markets, this alignment has helped advance a new kind of verification ecosystem, where

    • Protocols are built from real operations, not theory. Charm’s field-tested process for converting biomass into bio-oil and biochar laid the foundation for Isometric’s CCP-approved standards.

    • Data is open and measurable. Charm’s Ledger system and Isometric’s transparent registry ensure that every credit can be verified down to its physical, geological storage.

    • Buyers can trust what they purchase. By linking Charm’s real-world data with Isometric’s independent verification, each credit represents genuine, scientifically validated carbon removal.

This “radically open” model contrasts sharply with legacy carbon markets, where opaque data and unverifiable claims have eroded trust. Together, we’re rebuilding that trust — from the ground up — through data transparency, rigorous science, and operational proof.

    Leading by Doing

Charm’s dual CCP recognitions — across both bio-oil and biochar — demonstrate what’s possible when engineering precision meets transparency and accountability. As the voluntary carbon market matures, Charm will continue proving that high-quality carbon removal can scale without compromise.

Integrity isn’t just a label. It’s the foundation of every tonne Charm removes.

Introducing Ledger: A System for Reliably Monitoring & Reporting Biomass Carbon Removal at Scale

Measurement, Reporting, and Verification, 12 MINS READ

In August, Charm announced that we delivered our first Isometric-verified tonnes to Shopify, Stripe, and JPMorganChase. Monitoring, Reporting and Verification (MRV) is vital to scaling carbon removal, and it’s a key part of the Charm operation. Today, we’re excited to share the architecture for Ledger – Charm’s system for reliably measuring & reporting net removals for biomass-based carbon removal for registry verification & credit issuance. This post explores the problems we set out to solve, how we run Ledger and MRV to ensure high-quality removals, and our plans for gigatonne scale MRV.
